Alicante (Valencian: Alacant) is the southernmost province of the autonomous region of Valencia in Spain. The province is located on the Mediterranean Sea and its capital is the city of Alicante.
The Alicante region has 1,926,285 inhabitants (2010) spread over 141 municipalities. This makes it one of the Spanish provinces with the highest population density.
